What Can You Build with HackerTube Data?
Real project patterns and a small, source-aware starting point for your own tool.

Extend the viewing experience
HackerTube for TV takes the browsing task to Android and Google TV. Its author says it uses the original site's JSON API, so the relationship is a direct interface extension. This is useful when the discovery source is already good but the device context is different.
Follow the channels
HNTube uses channel signals repeatedly found through HackerTube recommendations to discover newer uploads. It does not simply display the same historical collection in another skin. The product idea is to follow a promising source after the first useful result.
Adapt the community-signal method
HackerBooks and HackerTools use Hacker News discussions to surface books and developer tools. They are examples of a related discovery method, not clients for HackerTube's video export. DEV·TV and Playback Notes have different relationships again: one offers a channel-led developer-content experience, while the other helps retain source-linked notes from media.
Start with one useful task
Choose an audience and one clear discovery question. Inspect the actual source data and usage rules. Build a readable list and a detail page with visible source links, then plan how to handle missing items, updates and attribution. A narrow first release with trustworthy paths back to the source is more useful than a large collection with unclear provenance.
